A live game show based on popular mobile trivia title QuizUp is in development for network television, NBC representatives have announced.

Gamasutrareports the network has detailed plans for a 10-episode season for QuizUp America,” which will feature contestants competing against television audiences playing at home with their mobile devices.

The format is similar to Microsoft’s 1 vs 100 Xbox Live game show, which peaked at over 114,000 concurrent online participants beforeeventually being scrapped.

The app itself came under fire in late 2013 forprivacy concernsregarding personal Facebook data. That doesn’t appear to have ever slowed down its player growth – as of May 2014, the app boasted 20m users averaging 40 minutes of play time each day.
