Games Convention off to Cologne in 2009?

The oft-rumoured relocation of Games Convention away from the Leipzig Messe finally looks to be becoming a reality today – as a prominent German national newspaper reports the show is to move to Cologne next year.

According to financial newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, the expo will move across Germany in 2009 – from Leipzig in the East of the country to Cologne in the West.

The article says that €450,000 in licensing may be paid to Leipziger Messe, the owner of the Games Convention brand – but that the show may see a name change.

Games Convention attracted almost 200,000 visitors in 2007.
