Games get Argos TV billing

Games products have made their way onto Argos’ brand new TV channel.

The 24-hour retail service went live on June 15th on Sky channel 642 and at www.argos.co.uk/tv.

A range of Argos’ 40,000 products will be presented on the show including games.

Viewers can either buy online, over the phone or take down the product number and purchase the product in one of Argos’ 750-plus UK stores.

The home catalogue retailer held a special Xbox 360 Kinect slot on June 20th as part of its gaming trial with Microsoft guest presenter Andy Lee.

During the launch phase of Argos TV, we will be drawing inspiration from our wide range of products to see what ranges translate well to TV and which prove popular with our Argos TV customer base,” Argos’ Simon Bibby told MCV.

Motion console devices, video games and Xbox 360 Kinect are some of the first products we wanted to have a look at. We haven’t committed to regular video game slots, but we are keeping our options open.

Having an integrated TV shopping channel gives our customers more choice and convenience in the way they shop with Argos. Having in-house production is exciting as we look to the future.”

Argos, part of Home Retail Group, announced plans to launch its TV channel earlier this year. The service will go up against QVC and Bid TV.
