Games Media Awards 2015 Finalists: Radio/Podcast Team (Independent)

As we count down to the awards event on Wednesday October 14th, MCV profiles the finalists for this year’s Games Media Awards.

Here we look at the independent radio/podcast category.

Bit Socket

Some people will tell you that the Bit Socket boys talk about Yakuza all the time, but really it’s only for most of the time.Bit Socket is a youtube channel and podcast made by Scott White and Joe Merrick. Scott and Joe have been best pals since they were at primary school. Bit Socket is all about two pals loving games and talking about them passionately, with enthusiasm and positivity. The videos celebrate little known games or stick up for games that have been shortchanged. The podcast is full of features – some regular, some one-off – that gently poke fun at some our most loved games, from the lyrical genius of Richard Jacques to Jimmy Shand’s Ceilidh cover of Snake Eater. And yes, both Bit Socket boys love Yakuza.

Chat Very Good

It’s about ethnics in game journalism.

The Crate & Crowbar

The Crate and Crowbar is an independent podcast about PC gaming by five friends who work in the industry. We gather once a week to talk about anything that interests us in the gaming news, share hopefully entertaining stories and thoughts about the games we’re playing, and answer our listener’s bizarre questions.

Gamewank

Gamewank was never really anything particularly well organised. It was simply a podcast of good friends Richie, Barry, Guy and Ryan discussing a love of games as well as a slew of bizarre unrelated subjects from the healing properties of potatoes to the dubious sources for Billy Bear Meat.

My Favourite Game

Hosted by Johnny Cullen, My Favourite Game sees people from the games industry of all corners – developers, writers, personalties and more – talk of their favourite game at length. The show is also an insight into the personal relationship people have with games and how much they’ve impacted on that person’s life.

Glitch Free Gaming

GlitchFreeGaming has been running since late 2012. 2015 has been a big year for the podcast as we hit episode 100 and launched our own branded website for hosting the podcast and game reviews. We continue to grow with an aim to becomingScotland’sNo.1 games media outlet

Daft Souls

A weekly podcast about video games.

Regular Features

A professional audio venture from Steve, Gav, Matt and Log.
