GameStick hits retail on September 30

Android microconsole GameStick is finally ready for public release, with developer PlayJam reportedly setting a retail release date of September 30th.

Liliputing reports that the Kickstarter success will be offered at $79.99, beating Ouya’s initial offering by $20. Both GameStop and Amazon are currently offering pre-orders for the hardware.

The package is actually even smaller than its microconsole competition, including just a Bluetooth controller and HDMI dongle for parts.

PlayJam’s creation was originally due out in June, but a series of delays – caused in part by high demand and the securing of extra funding from retailer GameStop – had it repeatedly pushed back a month at a time. Hopefully this latest date sticks.
