GameStop names second digital exec

Having appointed its first digital media manager in August, GameStop has added a second name to its digitally-focussed workforce – new senior vice president and general manager of digital business Shawn D. Freeman.

Tasked with overseeing and cultivating” the retailer’s digital business strategy, Freeman will work with GameStop’s Digital Ventures group with the strategic emphasis placed on a multi-channel approach.

His previous roles include stints at Ticketmaster North America and working as the chief technology officer for Handango.com.

Adding an accomplished online business veteran and visionary such as Shawn to our team demonstrates our commitment to establishing a world-class e-commerce and digital business platform that fortifies our leadership in the multi-channel video game entertainment industry,” GameStop CEO Daniel DeMatteo stated.

Shawn will help bring together and integrate key components to our digital strategy to not only participate in emerging trends in casual, online and mobile gaming, but shape, lead and create new market opportunities.”
