GameStop publishes iPhone game

Global video games retailer GameStop has published its first ever video game – iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch platformer Buck and the Coins of Destiny.

GameStop claims production credits on the 2D side-scrolling title, which sees Buck the Bunny embark on a quest to find fame and fortune across a number of randomly generated levels.

And until October 31st GameStop will be donating ten per cent of all sales revenue towards animal rescue and rehabilitation efforts”, though it’s capping the donation at $5,000.

The game is available to download on the Apple App Store now for 59p.

The move is a continuation of the retailer’s growing digital aspirations and its determination not to be muscled out of the games sector as the importance and influence of digital distribution continues to grow.

This time last year the company hired two high-level digital executives and told MCV in August that it intends to follow” its customers into the digital space.
