GameStop removes PSP titles from smaller locations

GameStop has pulled Playstation Portable games from the smallest quarter of its stores in what the company is describing as an effort to make the most of its merchandising space.

"The consolidation is occurring to maximize the merchandising space in the smallest 25% of stores," a GameStop representative shared with Kotaku. "It will also provide a greater assortment in those stores that will continue to carry the category."

GameStop will continue to sell PSP titles at bigger locations as well as on its website.

Although no direct negativity was guided at the PSP in the explanation of the decision, it certainly has the potential to be the start of the handhelds demise in North America (where it has regularly underperformed).

Sony released the PSP’s successor, PS Vita, this past February.
