Gaming star PewDiePie claims YouTube crown

Felix Kjellberg – aka PewDiePie – was the most watched person on YouTube in the second half of 2013.

The divisive 24 year old Swede, who now lives in the UK and made his name thanks to a string of highly successful gaming videos, beat the likes of Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, One Direction and Rihanna to the title, according to The Guardian.

He won a total of 1.28bn views in the period, well ahead of Cyrus’ 924.5m

PewDiePie currently has nearly 20,900,000 followers – representing a jump in viewers of nearly 19m in the last 15 months – and his videos attracted over 224m views in December alone.
