Gfinity release the first details of the Challenger Series

Gfinity has finally announced the first details of its Challenger and Elite Series after announcing the competition at the end of 2016.

We now know that there will be three games involved, with Counter-Strike: Global Offensive being the first one announced. The other two games will be announced in the coming weeks.

The Challenger Series, which is the gateway to the Elite Series, will allow anyone from across the world to participate. They will play in online matches and will acquire points for winning, climbing up the leaderboards as they continue to do well. This portion of the competition is set to begin on March 27th.

At the end of the first season of the Challenger Series, the best players will be invited to the Elite Draft, where pro teams will draft the teams that they want to represent them. Once drafted a team will then play in the Elite Series itself.

The Elite Series will be a competition based out of the Gfinity Arena in Fulham. Teams that are signed by professional organisations will play at events in the arena with the eventual winner being decided at the end of the season.

"The launch of the Challenger Series is a major strategic milestone for the Company and goes some way to highlighting the growing demand for eSports competitions,” said Neville Upton, Chief Executive Officer of Gfinity. “Furthermore, we’re delighted that the popular multiplayer first person shooter game, Counter Strike: Global Offensive, published by Valve, is the first of three titles we expect to announce over the coming weeks as we continue to build out the Elite Series."

Further details on the Challenger and Elite Series, as well as just who is involved in the Elite Draft are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
