GMAs 2009: Eurogamer named Best Website

Eurogamer was named the best games website last night at the Games Media Awards.

It was the third year running that the site took home the prize. This year the site beat out VG247, Gamespot, Videogamer, NowGamer and IncGamers.

MMO editor Oli Welsh accepted the prize, praising his colleagues and editor for their work on the site.

"If this award belongs to one person it’s the editor Tom Bramwell," said Welsh. "I think it’s a privilege to work with people that love their jobs that much and work that hard and are that dedicated."

The Games Media Awards were held at Jongleurs, Camden, and hosted hundreds of the UK’s games media and marketing and PR execs.

Key sponsors were Bethesda’s WET, Activision’s DJ Hero, Electronic Arts, Formula One 2009 from Codemasters, IL-2 Stumovik from 505 Games, Namco Bandai, New Super Mario Bros Wii from Nintendo, Saw from Konami, Scribblenauts from Warner Bros., Sega, Ubisoft, and Xbox 360.
