Grand Theft Auto III coming to iOS, Android

It’s ten years since the release of seminal PS2 classic Grand Theft Auto III and to celebrate Rockstar Games has announced that the 3D action title is coming to smartphones.

It’s due to hit both iOS and Android some time this autumn. Compatibility has been confirmed with iPad 2, iPhone 4S, Droid X2, HTC Evo 2, LG Optimus 2X, Motorola Atrix, Samsung Galaxy X2, Acer Iconia, Asus Eee Pad, Motorola Xoom and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.

Owners of older iOS devices, including the iPhone 4, are sadly set to miss out.

In addition, Rockstar is releasing a limited edition action figure of GTAIII star Claude manufactured by Sideshow.

The 1:6 model is fully articulated and comes complete with costumes and weapons from the game. It will retail for $149.99 though Rockstar Social Club members will have the chance to win one of three free models.
