Hadean announces Microsoft Azure will power its Aether Engine

Hadean has announced its distributed simulation engine, the Aether Engine, will be powered by Microsoft Azure.

The London tech firm has chosen Microsoft Azure as it believes it "allows developers to more seamlessly scale their applications at increased speed and ease across the cloud". According to a recent press release, as there is "an ever-increasing demand for larger and more complex multiplayer games", Hadean’s partnership with Microsoft "will bring these experiences to life and allow developers to focus solely on building innovative and effective experiences for their users".

"We’re thrilled to use Microsoft Azure to power Hadean’s technology as we continue to enable developers to pursue their creative vision without any friction," said Craig Beddis, CEO for Hadean. "The games industry is one of the most exciting in the world and it’s vital we empower developers to create experiences that no other medium can offer. By offering scale to developers through Microsoft technologies such as Azure, we can do just that."

"We are pleased to see Hadean integrate their technology with Microsoft Azure. the combination of Azure plus Hadean’s cloud-based OS and distributed simulation engine offers developers incredibly powerful DevOps tools so they can focus on what they do best – build games," added Bryan Saftler, director of product marketing, at Microsoft.

Hadean is also running a 10,000 player sci-fi battle royale clash, Aether Wars. The firm is staging the battle in order to perform the record-breaking stress test of its Aether Engine and showcase "the versatility" of its distributed simulation engine. The 10,000 players will face off in a single space battle and as is customary with battle royale matches, the winner will be the last player standing.

"The space showdown will showcase Aether Engine’s ability to handle a record-breaking number of players, breathing new life into the popular battle royale genre and opening up fresh gameplay possibilities for creative developers," states Hadean.

Participants can sign up for the free-to-play match right now at aetherengine.io/pvp-10k. Hadean indicates the match is likely to take place in "late February" but as yet, the specific date has yet to be confirmed.
