Harmonix’s unannounced Xbox One Kinect game cancelled – rumour

Harmonix is rumoured to have put an end to the development of an unannounced Xbox One Kinect effort.

Game industry detective Superannuation’s latest post on Kotaku points to the LinkedIn profile of the studio’s senior level designer, Rob Stokes. Stokes states on his page that the project’s development has been canceled by Harmonix.

Harmonix has since issued a comment to Joystiq, declining to confirm or deny anything in favor of promoting upcoming announcements:

"We’re responsible for the highest-rated Kinect titles for Xbox 360 with our Dance Central franchise, and we’re very excited by the possibilities of the new motion sensing technology for Xbox One,” the statement reads.

Right now our Kinect development is focused on the already-announced Disney Fantasia: Music Evolved – a title which we believe further innovates in both the motion gaming and music space. Nothing else to confirm today other than a heads up that we’ve got a lot of stuff happening that you’ll hear about soon.”

The developer let go of a small number of staff” last month, but it’s unclear if the layoffs have anything to do with the game’s alleged cancellation.
