Hasbro considering more Transformers games

Aaron Archer, the senior designer of both the Transformers and GI Joe brands at toy giant Hasbro, has said that the company is in talks with Activision over the possibility of further titles based on the Transformers IP.

Speaking at Transformers fan convention BotCon, Kotaku reports that the success of recent release War for Cybertron could lead to a brand expansion with an example given being a Transformers role-playing game”.

Archer added that Hasbro is considering such a move and that talks with publisher Activision.

Transformers: War for Cybertron was released in the UK last Friday and debuted at number eight in the ELSPA GfK Chart-Track All Format Top 40 this week, somewhat belying its strong critical reception.

Indeed, rumours of a spat between Activision and GAME could be at the root of why the game, which boasts one of the strongest licenses on the market, failed to reach initial sales expectations.
