HMV kicks off Christmas campaign

It may be over a month and a half away, but HMV is already preparing to pull in extra customers in time for Christmas.

The High Street and online retailer’s ‘Get Merry’ Christmas marketing campaign kicks off on November 5th, with in-store POS materials, posters, window creatives and bespoke carrier bags due on November 8th.

The imagery features a number of iconic characters from games, music and films in the form of 3D-style Christmas baubles. These include Sonic the Hedgehog, Mario, Lady Gaga, Shrek, Take That, Mickey Mouse and more.

Brand agency Venturethree developed the creative for HMV, which will also advertise key promotions such as two DVDs for 10. The campaign will target HMV’s 1.4m loyalty scheme members with the messaging: Reward Someone You Love This Christmas.”

On top of this, a family comedy DVD guide titled Laugh will appear in-store later this month, while a technology guide will be mailed to house owners in key areas of the UK.

HMV’s head of brand creative Mark Robertson said: Our aim has been to bring together a number of key elements that will help to create a truly engaging campaign that has a big impact.

Fortunately, we have a brand that can achieve all this, enabling our customers not only to get even closer to the music, films and games they love, but to get merry with HMV this Christmas."
