Hobbit hype spells success for LEGO Lord of the Rings

The biggest film of the season could make LEGO Lord of the Rings one of gaming’s best-sellers this Christmas.

Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment is working closely with its film colleagues to cross-promote the game with the first instalment in Peter Jackson’s Hobbit trilogy.

The buzz for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is definitely helping raise the awareness for LEGO The Lord of the Rings – especially amongst younger audiences who may not have been so exposed to the original trilogy,” sales and marketing boss Spencer Crossley told MCV.

We have ensured that we are an integral part of the movie’s promotional activity, benefiting from trailers, and links on the film’s social media channels.”

The game is out today (November 23rd). TV ads run from the end of November through December. There will also be on-pack promotions with 1m Feel Good kids drinks.
