IGN UK attracts record viewers

Specialist games website IGN saw 4m global users watch the E3 press conferences through its YouTube channel.

The firm became the first website to air live gaming broadcasts on YouTube and was the most viewed channel during each press conference.

The site also achieved record traffic figures with 7.5m page views and 1m unique users visiting IGN UK from Sunday June 13th to Thursday 17th. This is more than double the UK games print media – which has around 450,000 readers.

Globally, IGN pulled in 13m unique users and 95m page impressions during E3.

IGN UK’s managing director Ian Chambers said: With an unprecedented number of consumers visiting our UK site and achieving the top position on YouTube, our vision of engaging gamers wherever they interact with games is coming to life.”

Editor-in-chief Alex Simmons added: This year we delivered the world’s most prestigious gaming show into more homes than ever before.

More unique users were on IGN UK during E3 this year than the total monthly readership of all of the UK print games press combined.

Our coverage sets a precedent for pushing games content to the world’s largest audience whilst also driving new and innovative ways to interact with our readers.”
