Infinity Blade II tallies 5.7m downloads during free promotion

Epic’s Infinity Blade II was downloaded 5.7m times as part of Apple’s free-app promo during the App Store’s anniversary celebration.

AllThingsD reports the figure was accumulated over a week, with 1.7m of the downloads taking place on the first day alone. The game has now been downloaded nearly 50m times since it launched in December 2011.

Epic also saw a 2.5 per cent week-over-week rise in sales for the original Infinity Blade, and sales for the Infinity Blade: Awakening e-book went up 70 per cent – despite neither being discounted or directly involved in the promotion.

Infinity Blade: Dungeons was to be the next in line for the franchise, but was recently cancelled due to the closing of the game’s developer Impossible Studios.
