iPad 2 coming February 2011?

A new version of the iPad will allegedly hit shelves as soon as February 2011.

Reports suggest Chinese firm Foxconn Electronics will ship around half a million units of a revised iPad within the next 100 days.

Digitimes has claimed that Apple originally planned to mass produce the new device in January 2011, and that several component manufacturers have already been notified of the upcoming shipping schedule. It’s suggested the device could be ready as early as February.

Sources also report that Foxconn shipped 6m iPads in Q3 2010, with 1.8m units remaining in the run up to Christmas.

The iPad went on sale earlier this year with prices ranging from 429 to 699. Apple has sold over 7.4m iPads worldwide to date.

Apple also posted record revenues of $20.34bn for its fiscal Q3 period.
