Is this the iPhone 5?

Not quite, but the forthcoming Apple device could look extremely similar to this Chinese-made clone.

Found by Gizmodo, this phone is made by a factory in Shenzhen, China, close to the plant where the actual iPhone 5 is reportedly being produced.

Given that new products are often cloned in China before they are even officially released, either based on blueprints or actual models leaked by workers, it’s quite likely that this particular clone could well be identical or very close to the final look of Apple’s next phone.

Its design falls somewhere between that of the original iPhone and the redesigned iPhone 4. The clone is also only 7mm think. While it won’t have the same innards as the iPhone 5, it does suggest the new Apple device could be thinner.

The clone matches the alleged spy shot published by Gizmodo last week and can be seen below:
