JAPAN: Star Ocean puts Xbox top

Microsoft and Square Enix are both celebrating the success of Xbox 360 exclusive RPG Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope, which has entered the Japanese software charts in top spot.

Its sales of 162,000 units eclipsed closest contender Mario & Luigi RPG 3 on DS, which claims second position.

Elsewhere in the listings, it’s a good week for PSP with Namco Bandai’s Idolmaster series claiming third, fourth and fifth spots with Perfect Sun, Missing Moon and Wandering Star respectively.

UPDATED: The success of the game propelled Xbox 360 to its first hardweare win since late 2009, with its 21,000 unit sales trumping Wii (17,000) and PS3 (16,000).
