Japanese mobile firm Mobcast acquires Lumines IP

Japanese smartphone developer Mobcast has purchased the rights to Q Entertainment’s Lumines and Meteos puzzle franchises.

Furthermore – as reported by Siliconera– the Tokyo-based studio has already announced it is working on a new mobile entry of the Lumines series for both Android and iOS.

Lumines creator Tetsuya Mizuguchi is assisting with the development of this new iteration in the puzzle series with his new studio Enhance Games.

Mizuguchi is also the mind behind both Rez and Child of Eden. He left Q Entertainment in 2013, but returned to games development with his new California-basedstudio last year.

The last Lumines games to be released was Lumines Electronic Symphony, which was a launch title for the Vita in 2012.
