Joel Holmes-Darby to join Gfinity as the Elite Series’ franchise lead

Gfinity’s Elite Series has a new franchise lead, Joel Holmes-Darby.

Holmes-Darby is currently working as a management consultant at auditors KPMG, and will resign from this position in addition to his role as managing director of esports outside exceL Esports, who are currently an active participant in Gfinity’s Elite Series.

Holmes-Darby outlines the information in a blog post on the exceL Esports website, entitled “xL Joel: My Resignation” where he reveals that he’ll be replaced as the managing director of exceL Esports by his brother, Kieran.

Holmes-Darby, has described the job as his first full-time role in the games industry, but also his “dream role.” Looking back at his time with exceL, Homes-Darby describes the last three years with exceL as “a rollercoaster journey” stating that “I have learned more from this experience than any other academic or professional venture I have undertaken in life thus far.”
