Just Dance is now an eSport

Ubisoft’s Just Dance IP is now an official Electronic Sports World Cup discipline.

The publisher says it’s the first casual video games to enter ESWC’s line up, with qualifiers having begun earlier this week and running until September 21st.

Gamers can take part either via the World Dance Floor game mode or in the soon-to-be-announced official events. The final will be held during Paris Games Week from October 30th.

For the 11th edition of the ESWC, we are very proud to widen the definition of eSport with Ubisoft. Competitive gaming has to welcome all kind of players, has to be developed in partnership with the games publishers, and has to showcase the most advanced technologies which link the body to the game,” ESWC founder Matthieu Dallon said.

Just Dance is for ESWC the perfect medium to reach those goals.”
