Kalypso Media announces 2017 as their most successful financial year yet

The Kalypso media group has announced that the 2017 fiscal year was their best in the company’s 12-year history. According to Kalypso Finance Director Christoph Bentz, “Gross sales are in the mid double digit million Euro region and the profit before tax (EBIT) is in the double digit percentage of gross revenue.”

Kalypso founder and managing director Simon Hellwig celebrated the announcement, stating, “The good performance of all studios and companies in Germany, the UK and the United States is not only the result of serious investments into a high quality strategy game portfolio but also the achievement of all employees, executives and the team of directors. Especially during the last months I have seen that Kalypso has a great team and spirit within the group of companies.”

The publisher and developer is perhaps best known for their work on the Tropico series, which they acquired from Take-Two Interactive in 2008, and have published every game in the series since Tropico 3.

The company expects the upcoming Tropico 6 to be a source of continued growth. The latest entry to the series is planned to be released for PC, Mac, Xbox One and PS4 later in the year, and Kalypso also plan to release a “classic Tropico port” for iPad.

It will also benefit from the recent launch of digital-only brand Kasedo games, which is headquartered in the UK and will bring Rise of Industry and Warhammer 40K: Mechanicus to market in the near future.

Kalypso was founded as a two person startup in 2006, and has grown into a mid-sized global publisher with almost 100 employees and 7 offices in the UK, Germany and the United States.
