Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep dated

The sixth in Square Enix’s popular Kingdom Hearts franchise – Birth by Sleep – will hit retail as a PSP exclusive on September 10th.

Kingdom Hearts games have sold more than 14m copies worldwide since the self-titled original was released on the PS2 in 2002. They became well known for mixing modern Final Fantasy-style gameplay with Disney locations and characters.

Successive titles include DS exclusive 158/2 Days, GBA’s Chain of Memories and the PS2 sequel Kingdom Hearts 2.

Birth by Sleep is a prequel to the first Kingdom Hearts and explores the worlds of Snow White, Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty. Up to six players can connect wirelessly and play with each other, choose from three new heroes and organise attacks with a new ‘command board’.

Vice president for Square Enix’s European brands Larry Sparks said: Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep is one of the most beautiful titles to grace the PSP and we’re excited about its release this September.”

The publisher announced that a Birth by Sleep PSP bundle will reach US shores on September 7th for $199.99. It will feature a silver PSP console, 4GB memory stick, movie and a copy of the game.
