Kojima Productions shoots down Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance 2 rumours

There was much excitement – unnecessarily, it now seems – about a possible announcement for Metal Gear Solid: Revengeance 2 over the weekend.

A logo of the number ‘2′ was shown on screen as part of a PS4 trailer aired at Sony’s booth at the Taipei Game Show, Gematsu reports. But while the font certainly appeared to be identical to that used in the Metal Gear game, it is nothing more than a coincidence.

We’d like to say thank you to the fans for their enthusiasm but to clarify we did not tease a new game at the Taipei Game Show,” Kojima Productions said on Twitter. The trailer screencap in question is from SCE and not affiliated with Kojima Productions or Metal Gear.”

The dismissal followed an earlier debunking of the rumour by Geoff Keighley, who claimed to have received a similar denial from the Metal Gear makers.
