Konami FY net profits up 13%

Konami has posted an 18.35 billion Yen ($175m) for the 12 months ended March 31st, 2008 – up 13.2 per cent year-on-year.

Konami, which alongside video games has businesses in fitness and arcade, reported full year revenues of 297.4 billion Yen ($2.8bn) – up 6.1 per cent from the previous year.

Operating income of stood at 33.84 billion Yen ($322.81m), a 20.2 percent year-on-year increase.

Konami’s digital entertainment business, which encompasses boxed, arcade, online and mobile games, was up 8.4 percent for the year with sales of 178.9 billion Yen.

This division saw strong domestic sales for sports titles such as Proyakyu Spirits 4, JikkYou Pawa Fauru Puroyakyu, J.League Winning Eleven 2007 Club Championship and World Soccer Winning Eleven 2008 (Pro Evolution Soccer 2008).

For the current 2009 fiscal year (ending March, 2009) Konami has issued guidance of operating income of 45 billion Yen, net revenue of 330 billion Yen and net income of 26 billion Yen.
