Konami to publish Saw

Sources” close to Japanese games publisher Konami are claiming that the firm has snapped up the rights to publish Zombie Studios’ upcoming game based on the ultra-violent movie franchise Saw.

Question marks were placed over the future of the game following the collapse of former publisher Brash.

However, Variety reports that the game is now back on track and due for release on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC alongside the Saw VI movie this Autumn. If true, Saw joins Silent Hill in Konami’s horror-based games stable.

The site goes on to claim that rights holder Lionsgate strongly considered using the closure of Brash as a catalyst for launching its own games publishing business, particularly seeing as the game itself is said to be very impressive.

Other former Brash properties still hanging in limbo include Factor 5’s yet-to-be-announced title based on The Man of Steel.
