Kratos to star in Mortal Kombat

It has been confirmed that Kratos, the god-killer made famous by Sony’s God of War series, will appear as a playable character in Warner’s upcoming new game in the Mortal Kombat series.

With him will come a God of War arena, specific fatalities tailored to the character and moves that will be recognisable to anyone who has played the popular PlayStation series.

Guest roles in fighters is an increasingly common theme in fighting game, with the highest profile to date arguably being the appearance of both Darth Vader and Jedi Master Yoda (as well as Link of the Zelda series) in Namco Bandai’s 2008 title Soul Caliubur IV.

Mortal Kombat is due out on Xbox 360 and PS3 some time in 2011.
