LA Noire gets May 20th release

Rockstar’s long-awaited LA Noire looks likely to hit global retail on May 17th, if details from a leaked online trailer for the game are correct.

Eurogamer reports that the animated short was live on YouTube. The link now leads to a message that reads: "The video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Take 2 Games."

The game, which was first announced in 2005, has been a long time coming. It was expected to arrive last Q4 until Take-Two pushed back its release until some time in the first half of 2011.

The first trailer for the game, which impressed pundits with its amazing motion capture technology, went live in November.

UPDATE: Rockstar has confirmed that the game will be released in the UK on May 20th.

"LA Noirebreaks new ground for us," Rockstar founder Sam Houser said. "Its intense blend of action and real detective work defies genre conventions to create a unique and captivating thriller."
