Layton social game on the cards

The popular Nintendo DS puzzle adventure series Professor Layton is making the leap to social game platforms.

Developer Level-5 has struck a deal with Japanese casual gaming company DeNA to bring Professor Layton Royale to its Mobage mobile portal. The firms made the announcement during a joint press conference in Tokyo today, reports Andriasang.

Players will be able to control a detective, thief or a citizen in the social game which is a crossover between the Layton franchise and the Kaito Royale series.

It has not yet been confirmed whether Professor Layton Royale will be heading to other social gaming platforms such as Facebook.

In February Level-5 announced that the Layton series has shipped over 11m copies worldwide.
