LEGO Batman dated

Warner Bros Interactive has revealed to MCV that the eagerly awaited LEGO Batman: The Videogame will be released on October 10th.

The title, which studio Traveller’s Tales has already branded its ‘best LEGO game yet’, is the latest in a series of games to mix the LEGO brand with well-loved franchises, and follows the hugely successful LEGO Star Wars, LEGO Star Wars II and LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures.

LEGO Batman has already received positive previews from the press and is one of the most heavily-anticipated game releases of 2008.

The reaction has been very positive from retailers and consumers,” Traveller’s Tales product manager Richard Earl told MCV. This is the best LEGO game that we’ve made so far and it seems retailers and consumers agree with us.

We are backing it with marketing and we definitely hope it will be one of the top titles for the Christmas period. The hero and the villain modes are great, and we think it’s going to be lots of fun for consumers,” Earl added.

LEGO Batman’s release follows the record breaking The Dark Knight film, which has just generated over $500 million in the US alone. While LEGO Batman: The Videogame doesn’t directly tie into the movie, the title will benefit from the huge popularity of the cinema release.

When quizzed on the future for LEGO-branded titles, Earl told MCV: We’re currently concentrating on LEGO Batman – getting it finished and to a level that is as good as it can be. We feel that as long as we create fresh and fun LEGO games there is certainly life in the brand.”
