Localised entertainment content coming to Xbox Live in India

In an effort to broaden the portfolio of content available on the Xbox Live Marketplace in India, Microsoft is set to introduce localised entertainment content.

Microsoft has been pushing the entertainment features of the Xbox One heavily, and while the next-gen Xbox won’t be arriving in India until next year, Microsoft is already looking to populate the Indian Marketplace with localised content, starting with the Xbox 360.

On the Xbox 360, the Xbox Live portfolio in the US and other countries is enhanced. We see tremendous possibility even with the current generation to bring in that sort of content and make the Xbox 360 extremely valuable to an audience that looks at both gaming and entertainment,” Anshu Mor, Business Group Head – Interactive Entertainment Business, Microsoft India told MCV.

So yes, we do have local Indian apps coming to Xbox Live. At this stage, we can’t announce a name, but what we can tell you is that the work has already started to bring some local content into the Indian market,” Mor said.

MCV spoke with Mor at length about Microsoft’s plans for the Xbox business in India. We’ll have the full interview up later this week.
