Mad Catz bags Gears of War 3 licence

Mad Catz has extended its partnership with Epic Games to produce a range of official Gears of War 3 accessories.

The new deal gives the firm global rights to develop and market Gears of War 3 controllers, headphones and other peripherals for Xbox 360.

Mad Catz was responsible for previous official Gears of War 1 and 2 themed console skins, as well as its ‘Console Crate’ Xbox 360 carry case.

The company has also produced other official game accessories for brands including Street Fighter IV and Call of Duty.

We are delighted to extend our relationship with Epic Games and look forward to creating a distinctive range of accessories for the next release of one of the most successful franchises in the industry’s history,” said Mad Catz president and CEO Darren Richardson.

Epic Games VP Jay Wilbur added: Mad Catz has a history of successfully leveraging the Gears of War brand to bring high value accessories to market. We are excited to work with them again on what we expect will be one of the biggest video game releases of all time.”

Gears of War 3 is due for release this autumn on Xbox 360. The shooter series – developed by Epic Games – has sold more than 12m copies worldwide since the first title hit shelves in 2006.
