Man suing Bethesda over Fallout 4 ‘addiction’ after he loses wife and job

A Siberian gamer who played Fallout 4 non-stop for three weeks is taking Bethesda to court, alleging that he became ‘addicted’ to the game.

The 28-year-old claims no responsibility for the 21-day binge that he claims resulted in the loss of his wife and job.

If I knew that this game could have become so addictive, I would have become a lot more wary of it,” he said in a statement, as reported by RT. I would not have bought it, or I would have left it until I was on holiday or until the New Year holidays.”

He is seeking R500k (4,723) in damages.

The site adds that the case should be regarded as a test case for the Russian legal system. Other countries would not recognise the claim that games can be medically addictive.
