MCV goes big at Gamescom

Trade leader MCV has unveiled plans for its biggest ever presence at Gamescom in Cologne.

As part of a special agreement between Europe’s biggest trade news source and the premier games show, MCV will be distributing an extra high circulation print edition, whilst also running a dedicated online newswire.

The edition of MCV published on Friday August 13th will have 3,000 additional copies distributed from literature racks around the business hall, packed with editorial to help visitors and exhibitors make the most of their week in Germany.

A deluge of journalists, meanwhile, will be operating an MCV News Zone throughout the show, with updates and trade announcements every hour.

"Free flights have already been offered to top UK retailers, to great success. Now we are focusing on a very special print edition and online presence," said MCV publisher and Intent Media boss Stuart Dinsey.

"Gamescom is clearly the most important event in Europe for the trade and perfectly timed ahead of Q4 sell-in."

The show takes place from Wednesday August 18th to Sunday August 22nd in Cologne, with the first day dedicated to trade.

Last year’s debut event couldn’t have gone any better, attracting some 245,000 visitors and 458 exhibitors from 31 countries, but this year is expected to exceed that.

All the big names such as Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, EA, Square, Activision, Ubisoft and more are planning to have a major presence.
