MCV online traffic grows again

Online readership of leading UK games trade site MCV has hit a new peak.

The targeted site, which focuses on the retail and publishing channel, offers daily news and analysis, plus chart information, jobs and real-time release schedule updates.

It is published alongside the influential print and digital edition of MCV, which has been delivered free to all games buyers, store managers and distributors since launch in 1998.

Independent audit data from Google Analytics, which is infamously strict with its traffic measurement, shows that MCV has hit record figures across uniques and page views.

Unique visitors in September totalled 241,511, whilst total page views were a whopping 532,093.

"These are huge numbers, given that MCV is a standalone trade site. We don’t have sister consumer brands channelling traffic over to us. We are a pure trade site, servicing the retail channel and wider industry," said MCV editor-in-chief Michael French

"Clearly, a growing number of enthusiasts or ‘prosumer’ professional consumers who buy games regularly are discovering us, but we are a trade-only site and proud of it.

"Like its sister site Develop, which is the number one destination for those actually working within the games development sector, MCV is growing its online strength and continuing to invest in content and services. The industry has been really supportive of this over the past couple of years, so huge thanks to everyone who has helped us become an essential tool across online as well as print."
