Metal Gear Solid Collection confirmed

After a period of speculation and gossip, Konami has finally confirmed that Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection will be arriving on PS2 shortly – in the US at least.

The game includes the original PSOne Metal Gear Solid, the Director’s Cut edition of Metal Gear Solid 2 and the most recent console release of the series, Metal Gear Solid 3. It will also include some artwork from renowned Metal Gear Solid artist Yoji Shinkawa.

It will retail for the discount price of $29.99 (around 15).

Though no date has been specified, Konami has said that the game will ship in North America before the arrival of PS3 outing Metal Gear Solid 4 – though we don’t yet know when that will be released.

Since its inception, the Metal Gear Solid franchise has been one of the most successful game series in the history of video games, receiving worldwide recognition and praise,” Konami’s VP of marketing Anthony Crouts stated.

Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection represents a great value for gamers, bringing together three must-have classic titles which pioneered the stealth action genre.”

There’s no word yet on a European release.
