Microsoft VP Satya Nadella likely firm’s next CEO – report

Microsoft’s ongoing search for a CEO might be over as soon as next week, with executive vice president Satya Nadella reportedly the frontrunner for the job.

A report from Recode.net claims numerous sources close to Microsoft have revealed the five-month search should wrap up very soon, due to the simple fact that no one knows what to do until the newly appointed CEO lays out plans for moving forward.

"We aren’t doing anything but waiting," an unnamed executive said. "No one knows what the new CEO will want, so no one knows what to do."

Nadella currently serves as Microsoft’s Cloud and Enterprise executive VP, and has had a long history with the firm. His strong technical background is being cited in part as the reason he’s reportedly ahead of other candidates – such as Skype CEO Tony Bates – for the position.
