Minecraft Pocket Edition reaches 21m sales

Minecraft Pocket Edition has surpassed 21m copies sold, developer Mojang has announced.

The milestone for the game’s mobile edition was confirmed by Mojang’s Jens Bergensten on Twitter. Combined with the most recent sales info on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 platforms, that puts the indie phenomenon damn near 50m copies sold across all platforms by our estimation.

"We’re extremely grateful to all players for your dedication and creativity," the studio wrote. "Without that, Minecraft wouldn’t be anywhere near as significant as it is today."

To celebrate, the Minecraft mobile development team with be holding a live panel broadcast from Mojang’s offices on Monday, April 14th. The broadcast will include a Q&A portion, and fans can submit questions via Reddit.
