Minecraft sales pass 100m units

Mojang has confirmed a monumental sales milestone for its smash hit Minecraft.

The studio has now sold a total of 106,859,714 copies of the game. Since the start of 2016 it has sold an average of 53,000 copies every day. There have been sales in every country on the planet, including four in Antarctica. The game still enjoys over 40m monthly active users.

Minecraft: Pocket Edition is the best selling version in all territories bar South America, where the console version is king. Just a single sales percentage separates the mobile and console versions in both Europe and North America. The PC version has the smallest market share in all regions except Asia Pacific.

We’d like to offer our heartfelt thanks to every one of you who’s bought Minecraft over the past few years, no matter which platform you play on,” Mojang said. We’re constantly in awe of our community and the amazing things you achieve together. You really are the best.”
