Monkey Island Special Editions coming to retail

Activision will release the remastered Monkey Island titles as a boxed bundle this September.

The publisher is continuing its work with LucasArts to bring the Monkey Island Special Edition collection to PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. It will contain The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition and Monkey Island 2 Special Edition: LeChuck’s Revenge.

The two titles are already available through digital distribution on PC, Xbox Live and PSN, as well as iPad and iPhone. They each contain the original 16-bit point-and-click adventures, as well as remastered versions with new artwork and full voice acting.

The Special Edition Collection will feature extra content not available in the downloadable versions. There will be environment and character concept art from both remastered games, full soundtracks and storyboards from an animated Monkey Island movie that was never released.

The Monkey Island Special Edition Collection will be released on September 9th.
