MW2 tops all-time Amazon pre-order chart

Amazon.co.uk has confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has become the most pre-ordered game in the company’s history, racking up double the amount of interest of former title holder Grand Theft Auto IV.

The level of interest in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has been unprecedented,” Amazon.co.uk’s director of video games Chris Poad stated, according to Videogamer.

We have seen demand increase rapidly as the release date has drawn closer and it is now benefiting from over 50 per cent more pre-orders than we saw for Grand Theft Auto IV. That is an incredible achievement.”

Amazon was until earlier today selling the game for 42.99. However, following Sainsbury’s decision to begin selling the game from 26 at midnight tonight, Amazon then dropped its price to 32.
