New Mortal Kombat confirmed

Midway has confirmed the next instalment in the Mortal Kombat series is already under development, after shipping 1.8 million copies of last year’s Motal Kombat Vs. DC Universe.

Last year’s title was available on PS3 and Xbox 360, and featured popular characters from DC Universe, including Batman and Superman. It became the most pre-ordered MK title in the franchises’ history, and more than 3.6 million MK Vs. DC matches have been played online for the PS3.

"Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe was the result of countless hours of hard work by many people, and seeing the game surpass the million-seller plateau makes it worth all the effort," said Mortal Kombat co-founder and creative director Ed Boon.

"We’re already hard at work on our next version of Mortal Kombat, and look forward to being able to reveal more details in the future."
