New Mortal Kombat live-action series in development

Warner Bros is planning a new live-action series based on Mortal Kombat to run alongside the launch of the latest title in NetherRealm’s gory fighting franchise.

The untitled Warner Bros production is being developed in collaboration with Blue Ribbon Content – Warner’s new digital series production arm. The series will feature some of the franchise’s most storied characters, while introducing a new generation of fighters."

No word on when the series is set to kick-off, or what platforms it can be viewed on. The release also neglects to mention if any notable production staff or actors are involved with the project.

Mortal Kombat X is due out April 2015 for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
