Nintendo skipping this year’s Gamescom

There will be no early look at the Wii U at this year’s Gamescom 2012, the platform holder has announced.

The company last year used the event to announce a number of release dates for key Wii and 3DS titles and has had a presence of sorts at every Gamescom to date.

Whilst Gamescom is a fantastic show, we have taken the decision not to attend this year’s event,” Nintendo said in a statement issued to VG247.

We are planning a number of sampling events throughout Germany in which our fans will have the opportunity to play upcoming Nintendo 3DS, Wii and Wii U titles. Further details will be announced soon.”

Gamescom 2012 begins on August 15th.
