No subscription fees Xbox Live on Windows 10

Microsoft has said that it will not lock the Windows 10 Xbox Live app behind a Gold subscription paywall.

The confirmation came from Major Nelson on Twitter, who told a fan that: Xbox Live Gold will not be required for online multiplayer gaming using our service on Windows 10 PCs and Phones.”

Xbox Live on Windows 10 will offer a wide assortment of features previously only available to console owners such as messaging and, in the case of some titles such as Fable Legends, cross-platform multiplayer.

Some titles will also support cross-buy, meaning that if you buy them on one platform you will also receive them on the other.

There will also be some additional features for streamers and video uploaders, with Windows 10 able to access gameplay recordings from Xbox One.
