No Xbox One release for Nier Automata, producer clarifies

There’s bad news for Xbox One fans hoping for a port of upcoming Square Enix RPG Nier Automata.

The Express reports that the game’s producer Yosuke Saito told it that there are currently no plans to release on this platform”, adding: "The main reason for this is that the Japanese market for Xbox One is not strong, so the decision was made to focus on PlayStation 4 rather than to split our efforts across two platforms."

Saito added that this decision has also helped the PS4 version of the game.

"The biggest benefit to developing on one platform is that we did not have to split our time, allowing us to focus more on the quality," he explained. "It is not about whether one platform is better than the other, it’s that from a development point of view were can devote more time to one platform."

We must also shout out Square Enix’s beautifully bizarre pre-order video for the game.

Yes, they do shout Shit Square Enix” at the end. We especially love that the rolling about on the floor is set to dramatic music. Oh, and also check out the video description:
